1 Rs Loan Default, Chennai Bank Refuses To Return Customer's 138 grams of Gold Jewels.

July 03, 2018 0

The customer "C Kumar" an account holder of the Pallavaram branch of Kancheepuram Central Cooperative Bank had been running from pillar to post for the past five years to get back the jewels worth around Rs. 3.50 lakh.

A co-operative bank here has allegedly refused to return 138 grams of gold jewels, claiming a default of Re 1 in repayment

of a loan pledged for the loan which made customer to move the Madras High Court for relief.

C Kumar said he had taken a loan of Rs. 1.23 lakh from the bank by pledging 131 grams of gold jewellery on April 6, 2010.
And in between, he took two fresh loans totalling Rs. 1.65 lakh by pledging a total of 138 grams of gold.

He closed the first loan by settling the amount along with interest on March 28,2011 and also repaid the two other loans shortly thereafter, but the bank refused to return the jewels saying there was a balance of Re 1 in each of the loans.

Petitioners counsel M Sathyan said even after repeated requests by C Kumar, the bank refused to release the jewellery or accept payment of pending Re 1 for each account.

The petitioner submitted that he nurtured a doubt with regard to the safety of his jewels

Big lesson for all of us. In SBI Cash Deposit Machine, man lost Rs 49,500

Big lesson for all of us. In SBI Cash Deposit Machine, man lost Rs 49,500

SBI customer "Mahindra Kumar Yamanappa" has lost Rs 49,500 by pressing a wrong number in Cash Deposit Machine (CDM), the victim, had deposited the amount in a CDM machine located at north Karnataka’s Kalaburagi on July 18, 2017.

After depositing the money, Yamanappa had waited for a moment to get the receipt of credited
amount. But, even after 48 hours, he failed to get the credited slip or text message on his phone.
He then approached his SBI home branch located at Kalaburagi’s SB Temple Road and filed a complaint on the CDM complaint form on July 20. He registered a second complaint with them in August.

Khan Shabab, also an SBI customer in Telengana’s Adilabad had swiped his Debit card at an ATM and found an excess of Rs 49,500 in his bank account.
Shabab spent no time in withdrawing the entire amount.

The bank authorities responded on August 30, 2017. In its response, the SBI authorities said that the amount was sent to Shabab’s account after Yamanappa had mistakenly typed digit of 8 (eight) instead of 0 (zero) on the CDM.After running here and there for four months, Yamanappa registered a formal complaint against SBI at the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum in Kalaburagi on November 28. In his complaint, Yamanappa had accused SBI authorities of failing to act inappropriate time to block his money. Yamanappa also claimed that he lodged a complaint with SBI authorities within 48 hours of the incident.

In the consumer forum, bank’s counsel had argued that it was the fault of the customer since he had entered the wrong account number. The counsel also stated that Yamanappa had failed to mention the erroneous account number during the first complaint with the SBI. The counsel further stated that SBI had done its duty by informing Yamanappa in August 2017 about the mistake he had committed.

The judge also scolded Yamanappa for failing to mention the erroneous account number. The judge also urged the bank to take effective steps to reverse the transaction. In its verdict on June 5, 2018, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum dismissed Yamanappa’s case.

Failed ATM transaction but money get debited.

June 19, 2018 0
Failed ATM transaction but money get debited.

I am writing this because recently came across this situation then get some basic understanding from the banker and felt to share with others the same I am sharing on my blog. hope it can helps to unknown.

In ATM to withdraw money, swipe your card, enter the pin and amount but the ATM throws up some error and doesn’t let out any money. And you receive message on your mobile that the money has been debited from your account for a failed transaction.

Is this quite a frustrating situation right? Yes it happens with me too.

What to do with failed transactions?
Most people would freak out if it’s happening for the first time. A question then arises whom to contact for the refund; whether the bank which owns the ATM where you have tried withdrawing money or your bank (the ATM issuing bank).

For example, you have ICICI Bank ATM and tried withdrawing money from a SBI ATM. In case the transaction fails and results in money being debited, you should always contact the ATM issuing bank, which in this case is ICICI Bank.

A lot of the ATM’s these days are on-site, which means the ATM is within the premises or within reaching distance of its home branch. You may visit that branch immediately for guidance but ultimately, to register your complaint, you must visit your bank branch. Most banks readily have a complaint form for ATM related complaints but you may even give in writing as an application describing the transaction details.

Refunds process for Home bank ATM Instant refund
I have observed this quite a few times that in case the failed transaction happens in a home bank ATM, the amount gets refunded instantly. That is, if you were trying to use your ICICI Card in an ICICI ATM and the transaction gets failed, the amount gets instantly refunded. You can verify this by visiting any other nearby ATM. There’s no need to register any complaint in this case.

Refunds process for Other bank ATM get delay to refund
In case there are two different banks involved, refund will be processed going by customer’s complaint. A customer will have 30 days to register his complaint regarding a failed transaction. This can take time, as the banks have to verify the complaint details and some internal process. It might take up-to 7 days.
